Summer Events Mark the Harbor Habitat for Humanity Anniversary

BENTON HARBOR, Mich. (June 24, 2010) – To mark its 15th anniversary in the Benton Harbor, Mich., community, Harbor Habitat for Humanity will host fundraising events centered on a celebration of its 100th home built. The events and money raised will allow Harbor Habitat to continue its mission to eradicate substandard housing and raise awareness of the transformation taking place in the Benton Harbor community.

Harbor Habitat for Humanity Prepares for 2010 "Nuclear" Blitz Build

Benton Charter Township, MICH. – Harbor Habitat for Humanity (HHFH) will partner with two of the affiliate’s largest corporate contributors to host a Blitz Home Build in Harbor Habitat’s Butternut Development beginning Monday, June 7. Both houses are a part of Harbor Habitat’s 15 year anniversary and Habitat’s Centennial House Celebration.

Join us July 24 for the 7th Annual Hard Hat Ball and 100th House Dedication

Join us as we celebrate 15 years of serving the community of Benton Harbor and dedicate our Centennial House. The dedication will take place at noon on Butternut St. in Benton Charter Township. Following the Centennial House dedication, we will gather for our Annual Hard Hat Ball at Pier 33 for dinner, dancing and entertainment.

Harbor Habitat for Humanity celebrates 100th new home in Benton Harbor Community

BENTON HARBOR, Mich. (May 15, 2010 – Butternut Street, in Benton Township, will ring with the sounds of hammers Saturday. A volunteer construction crew will join a team of current Habitat partner families to kick off the 2010 build season by raising the walls of Harbor Habitat’s 100th new house in the Benton Harbor community.

The 100th house will become the home of Myron Stubbs and his family. Two years ago, Stubbs and his three young children, Malik, Christine and Renada, were living in the Benton Harbor Emergency Shelter. The shelter also provided Stubbs employment at its resale store. Stubbs has since moved into an apartment in  Benton Harbor as he prepares for homeownership.
