DIRECTOR OF FINANCE

Reports to: Executive Director

SERVICE SUMMARY:

This position will be instrumental in maintaining financial controls, policies and procedures within Harbor Habitat.  The Director of Finance will be responsible for working with staff to assure that all policies are being followed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Maintain all financial controls, policies and procedures on a daily basis. Provide guidance to the Executive Director as it relates to financial decisions.

• Work with Construction / Accounting in maintaining a construction accounting process that emphasizes material management, job costing, and forecasting of expenditures.

• Assist Treasurer in the creation of monthly financial reports to present to the Board of Directors. Included would be a cash flow forecast, budget versus actual comparison, and remaining budget report.

• Assist the Executive Director and Treasurer in preparing an annual budget.

• Work with Finance Oversight Committee to identify significant areas of weakness in controls and procedures within the affiliate and Develop financial controls to address such weaknesses.

• Maintain financial policies and procedures to assure that a consistent set of guidelines is available for staff to reference as they perform the daily operations of the affiliate.

• Implement all controls, policies, and procedures. This includes training of staff, committees and board members.

Management -
• Manage, implement and monitor financial policies and procedures to the affiliate.

• Assist Executive Director in managing the daily finances of the organization.

• Provide Executive Director with financial data to enable key business decisions to be made by the Board.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:                 Bachelors degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or related field
Certification/s:          CPA is desirable
Special Skills:            The ability to direct and motivate a diverse group of staff and volunteers
Experience:               Experience in job costing preferred. Management experience required
Other:                                     Candidate must be familiar with QuickBooks Pro or similar software
