Whole House Sponsorship Plan
Financial Commitment - $60,000 + gifts-in-kind
Responsibilities of Whole House Sponsorship for Sponsoring Group:
Appoint a Chairperson and/or Project Coordinator
Raise ½ of cash funds by thirty days before construction begins and the balance by 30 days after construction begins; referral of sources for gifts-in-kind
Recruit and coordinate volunteers
Participate in ground-breaking and dedication services (with Habitat staff)
Construction tasks assigned to Sponsoring Group volunteers (under Habitat staff supervision):
Framing
Roofing
Window and door installation
Siding
Drywall installation (optional)
Trim Carpentry
Painting
Landscaping
Detailing and clean-up through all stages of construction
Hospitality and Site hosting
* Overall time commitment for sponsorship (average, est.): 8-10 weeks
Responsibilities of Harbor Habitat for Humanity:
Information for mobilization
Training church coordinator and project coordinator
Community Builders visits to sponsoring groups to encourage and help mobilize
Land acquisition and site preparation
Homeowner selection and “sweat equity” supervision
Mortgage management
Overall project management and scheduling
Overall volunteer coordination
On-site construction supervision
Foundation pour and preparation for framing
Sidewalk and driveway concrete installation
Underground plumbing
Internal mechanical installations (plumbing, heating, electrical)*
Blown insulation
Drywall joining and taping
City inspection coordination
Occupancy permits
Homeowner follow-up
* These must be done by licenses contractors, whether paid or volunteer, who will warrant their work for one year from the time of occupancy.
Harbor Habitat for Humanity is open to working with groups and organizations who are willing and able to provide full financial sponsorship but are unable to additionally provide gifts-in-kind, hospitality, and/or volunteer labor.
