About Habitat!
Harbor Habitat for Humanity is part of Habitat for Humanity International, which has been successfully helping families throughout the world for over 25 years.
Through tax-deductible donations of money and materials, Habitat for Humanity builds and rehabilitates houses with the help of homeowners. Houses are sold at no profit with no-interest mortgage payments, including taxes and insurance. Payments are made over a period of 15-20 years and deposited into a revolving Fund for Humanity, which supports the construction of more houses.
Benton Harbor/Benton Township is the largest community in Berrien County and has a disproportionate number of rental properties vs. owner-occupied homes. Aging community stock and lack of new single-family residential construction has created a severe housing need in the community.
This community also has a strong network of community-minded churches and families willing to partner with other volunteers to revitalize their neighborhoods through building homes…and futures.
Support has already been received from individuals, churches, organizations and corporations – but for Harbor Habitat to meet its goals, we need YOU as a partner. Check out ways you can contribute and get involved with Harbor Habitat for Humanity..
